TAa Dahhhhhh!!!!

Well Folks.... Here are some before and after shots of our new home!! We moved about 4 weeks ago and so far so GOOD!!! Below is the picture of our new outside window.
F.Y.I. we are sharing a space with an Office supply Store - Formerly know as Printer's Island - now known as Divine Office Products. I think it is very 'COOL' to be sharing a space, we both have plenty of room and friendly folks to help our wonderful customers! What more could you ask? We are also conserving energy... very Green...You know!

So that is the back story on our move, now on to the exciting Quickie makeover (it didn't feel quick, trust me, ha ha)... There is still more I want to do, like makeover Divine Office Products, hee hee....Also there are things to do to our side as well, and as you know it all takes TIME... So for now here is what has happened so far....
I was soooo anxious to get started, that I have to admit I was a bit remiss in taking really good before pictures... so hopefully these shots will give you an idea of how it was when we arrived at 3923 Kell Blvd!!
The wood paneled closet at the front of the store....

the one thing I wish I would have really taken a good picture of was the bamboo/grass covered awning that hangs over our side of the store. I was so excited when Roy - the owner- said that we could paint it... and so we did. Quite the task!!!

The color of the walls, sand, of course.... here we had started painting the walls green and had primed the closet.

The black part of the wall is a chalk board and look at that those awning stripes!!! Cute, huh?

This crazy vine design, just about drove me crazy... I thought it was a disaster! But we persevered!! As you can see Jaidon and I were on top of tall ladders risking life and limb for CUTE!!! LOL
The finished chalk board... with everything back in its place!!

Here is the front view...

And looking from the back of the store!!
I think it all turned out quite nicely!!! Things I want to add are clouds at the top... and some faux picture frames to showcase our bellycastings or anything else we might want to show off!! Fun!!!
Be sure to come by and see us!! New shop policy - every child that comes in accompanied with an adult gets a free latex balloon!!! I love how much, kids love balloons!!! Their little faces light up every time!!!

Hope to see you soon!! Vonnie

It has been soooo long!

Sorry for the terrible neglect! We have moved.... is my only excuse! We are sharing a space with the former Printer's Island, now known as Divine Office Products... It makes perfect sense really, we are owned by the same person and we love our new neighbors!!! It's very green and cool too!!!
This weekend we will be painting inside the store... And it will be quite the job too!! I have very high hopes that not only will we finish this weekend, but that it will be CUUUTE!!!!! So please come by for a visit and excuse our little (BIG) mess, root us on or join in... I will have an extra paint brush hanging around I'm Sure!!! LOL I will post before and after pictures soon! Hope to see you soon!!! Vonnie

Balloons for Deidre...

Friday at the shop, three women came in, their task was a very important one... To have balloons delivered to their girlfriends' funeral. It was her last request. Balloons. Yes, balloons. She wanted to try to lift the spirits of the people who attended her service, so they wouldn't be so sad. Deidre asked her best girlfriends to do this for her. She was worried that it might be thought of as silly... But what is really wrong with silly? Sometimes silly is what gets us through the hard times. Deidre knew this...So Deidre's girlfriends were at The Basketcase to buy balloons for her funeral. Balloons for Deidre.

The colors were chosen carefully, the design was discussed, and the plan for delivery was gone over, a few times. The girlfriends were relieved...Deidre would have balloons at her services! So few things in life go the way that we want them to go, so for sure if you can have what you want at your funeral, the very thing that is meant to be a celebration of your life, then Yes..You Can Have Balloons!!!!

What wonderful Friends!! What a Blessing! What a Treasure!! As I shared this story with one of my friends, we talked and we cried. Tears of sadness and tears of joy, to know that such people exist! It makes me cry now, as a matter of fact!! I know that my friends would do the same for me and I for them. I am lucky and blessed, just like Deidre.

Deidra wasn't that much older than I am now... So I get a sense that time is short!!! And now is the time to let your family and friends know... That you love them and that if they want Balloons at their funeral, you will make sure that Balloons are there!!!

I didn't know Deidre, but I sure wish I would have... Below is just a short description of Deidre, from the paper.

Deidre loved being with her friends and family and most of all becoming a Grandmother. Deidre was known for her strength, courage, fight for life, honesty, friendship, and for being the sweetest person anyone knew.

And I might add, someone who cared enough for others to have balloons at her funeral.
Love to all... Vonnie

It's a really big show!!
