Balloons for Deidre...

Friday at the shop, three women came in, their task was a very important one... To have balloons delivered to their girlfriends' funeral. It was her last request. Balloons. Yes, balloons. She wanted to try to lift the spirits of the people who attended her service, so they wouldn't be so sad. Deidre asked her best girlfriends to do this for her. She was worried that it might be thought of as silly... But what is really wrong with silly? Sometimes silly is what gets us through the hard times. Deidre knew this...So Deidre's girlfriends were at The Basketcase to buy balloons for her funeral. Balloons for Deidre.

The colors were chosen carefully, the design was discussed, and the plan for delivery was gone over, a few times. The girlfriends were relieved...Deidre would have balloons at her services! So few things in life go the way that we want them to go, so for sure if you can have what you want at your funeral, the very thing that is meant to be a celebration of your life, then Yes..You Can Have Balloons!!!!

What wonderful Friends!! What a Blessing! What a Treasure!! As I shared this story with one of my friends, we talked and we cried. Tears of sadness and tears of joy, to know that such people exist! It makes me cry now, as a matter of fact!! I know that my friends would do the same for me and I for them. I am lucky and blessed, just like Deidre.

Deidra wasn't that much older than I am now... So I get a sense that time is short!!! And now is the time to let your family and friends know... That you love them and that if they want Balloons at their funeral, you will make sure that Balloons are there!!!

I didn't know Deidre, but I sure wish I would have... Below is just a short description of Deidre, from the paper.

Deidre loved being with her friends and family and most of all becoming a Grandmother. Deidre was known for her strength, courage, fight for life, honesty, friendship, and for being the sweetest person anyone knew.

And I might add, someone who cared enough for others to have balloons at her funeral.
Love to all... Vonnie

Sending Smiles!

Don't you always remember that certain someone who sent you flowers? I do! It says alot about the person that sent them, that they are sweet, thoughtful and caring! And that they think you're pretty special too! To often in this busy life the people that we hold near and dear to our hearts, don't even know it... so stop and send some flowers for someone to smell today!! What Are Little Boys Made Of?

What little boys are made of... That was the theme of Chelsea and Jake Wilson's soon to-be born baby's shower. Everything we so cute! Starting with the poem on the invitation...

Dump Trucks, Dozers

Hammers and Nails

Bugs, Frogs, and Fishing Tales

Popsicle Kisses and Big Bear Hugs
That's What Little Boys are Made Of!

The Main centerpiece was Jake's old dump truck that he played with for many hours in the dirt and mud, having the best time ever!!! Of course! So many memories... The dump truck was in little boy shape, tattered, well loved , and dirty!!! So it was perfect for this shower. We made a road to top the table with and carried out the theme with toy trucks to hold mints and peanuts. And it would have not been complete with out a bucket of worms!!! Toni Mahler, one of the hostesses, came up with the idea for the road and the punch... MUD PUNCH!!! It was so delicious! It tasted just like a Wendy's Chocolate Frosty!!! Mmmmm GOOD!! I had '3' cups!! YIKES!!! Please see all the fabulous pictures below... It was fun and an honor to be part of this celebration!! Thanks Chelsea, Jake and Grammy Vickie (my GREAT friend), love you guys!!!

Here are the Proud Parents To-Be!

Oh BABY!

Babies...Babies...Babies!!!! We LOVE THEM ALL!!! It is always such a pleasure to share our customer's and friend's joy when a new little one is welcomed into the world!! From the Bellycasting, and the FUN Baby shower decorations. To the, Hey everybody the BABY is finally here, hospital delivery gift!! We always enjoy being part of the celebration! Recently a friend of mine found out that she was going to be a Grandma, again!! This time her son and his wife are the lucky parents to-be... First baby shower - Jungle theme - to match the nursery!! So of course the perfect centerpiece - a sweet BIG Jungle themed diaper cake!!! It really turned out so cute and had a TON of diapers in it. My friend, Vickie, also ordered hand painted letters to spell the baby's name and hang in the nursery. Jaidon, our fabulous artist, drew the design out to exactly match the nursery bedding and then we painted them up, THEY ARE SOOOOO CUTE! See the pictures below...Diaper Cake Topper.... the mighty LION! He had his mane styled especially for the shower! LOL

Here is the whole thing! So cute don't cha think? Brown shred separates the layers and each one is adorned with cute wooden cut-outs and fun dotted bows!
